Product Economist

We are looking for a Product Economist to add to our growing Ads Quality team to develop insights that influence the advertising products we build. Pinterest is a unique product with high similarity between organic and promoted content, and our Ads Quality team is innovating to create an optimal ad offering for our advertisers. As a Product Economist, you’ll use first and third-party data and bring an analytical expertise to analyze complex economic and advertising system tradeoffs.


What you’ll do :
  • Conduct rigorous statistical and econometric analysis in support of our advertising priorities and our business’ auction model
  • Analyze multi-dimensional data sets and problems to better understand and optimize the economics of our auction system for both pinners and partners
  • Launch deep analyses of our advertisers’ various objectives while considering budget pools, ad delivery, ad impressions and other factors
  • Manage relationships with outside academics and/or research partners for research collaborations
  • Work cross-functionally to understand the intersection of policy, product, legal, and operations to develop research that informs business and policy decisions
What we’re looking for :
  • A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or another quantitative field; PhDs welcomed
  • 2+ years of quantitative research or data science experience
  • Strong data skills and past experience with SQL, Python, and R to work efficiently at scale
  • The capacity to work independently, execute a research plan with minimal oversight, synthesize analyses and communicate findings with clarity
  • Preferably experience with advertising systems or marketplaces of some sort
